Every year, the Pantone Color Institute chooses a hue that represents the current global culture and sets the tone for a new direction in design. This year, the dramatic blue-based purple shade is meant to symbolize inventiveness, ingenuity and visions of what is yet to come for the future.

Ultra Violet is a versatile color for home décor, as it pairs well with brights, pastels, metallics, mid-tones and deeper hues. To inspire creativity, the Pantone Color Institute created eight color palettes that feature the year’s special shade. If you’re planning a spring home décor update, consider using one of the following color stories.

Purple Haze

With hazy, smoky shades like Misty Lilac, Weeping Willow, Deauville Mauve and Ether, the Purple Haze palette embodies tranquility and peacefulness. The hues blend in a subtle way to make for a harmonious home décor look.

Kindred Spirits

The Kindred Spirits palette provides a more fun-loving interior design feel. Like-minded hues including Sparkling Grape, Rhapsody, Prism Pink and Chateau Rose play off the Ultra Violet for an engaging, whimsical color mix.

Drama Queen

As the name suggests, the Drama Queen palette features a range of rich, exciting shades. With hues like Chili Pepper, Pink Peacock, Hyacinth Violet and Kalamata, this color story creates show-stopping, adventurous home décor.

Intrigue is a deeper, darker color palette that stirs up a sense of mystery. Shades from nature — like Calliste Green and Turkish Sea – combine with unconventional tones like Pale Gold and Blackened Pearl for magical, unforgettable interior design.

Warm and subtle, the Quietude color palette includes natural shades that combine for calm, harmonious home design. Softer, more organic colors like Burlwood, Canyon Rose and Peach Beige are understated backdrops to the bolder, brighter Ultra Violet hue.

Bright, bold and full of energy – that’s the Attitude color palette. With eye-catching shades like Bodacious, Oriole, Bamboo and Citrus, creating an exciting interior design statement couldn’t be easier.

Desert Sunset

The Desert Sunset color palette brings together the warm shades of the early evening desert sky. Emberglow, Copper, Muskmelon and Sunset Gold and other dramatic, heightened hues radiate against the striking Ultra Violet shade.

Floral Fantasies

Soft, sweet pastels like Orchid Hush, Yellow Iris and Cherry Blossom marry well with the deeper, darker Astral Aura and the brighter Ultra Violet. Using the Floral Fantasies color palette evokes the feeling of a beautifully-blooming summer garden.

Ultra Violet is a bold, provocative and thoughtful hue, a shade that can give your living spaces a fresh, original look. But, if you’re not sure how to incorporate your favorite hues into your home décor, the professional interior designers at Guild Hall Home Furnishings can help.
